COMPLAINING: Eliminate the habit of complaining.
INTRODUCTION TO DAY 6
On Day 6 of our soul-fasting journey, let’s turn our focus towards honouring and appreciating our parents or other parental figures in our lives. Simultaneously, we’ll aim to let go of the habit of complaining, choosing instead to see challenges as opportunities for growth and gratitude.
MEDITATION FOCUS FOR GRATITUDE: PARENTS
Today, reflect on the role your parents or other parental figures have played in your life. Consider their guidance, sacrifices, and the love they’ve offered. Whether your relationship with them is complex or straightforward, try to find elements of gratitude—lessons learned, support given, or love shared. Acknowledge their impact on the person you’ve become.
MEDITATION FOCUS FOR FASTING: COMPLAINING
As we appreciate our parents, let’s also work on eliminating the habit of complaining. Complaining often stems from a focus on what’s wrong rather than what’s right. Today, when you catch yourself about to complain, pause and redirect your thoughts. Look for something positive in the situation, or consider how this challenge might be an opportunity for growth or learning.
PRACTICE FOR THE DAY
Express your gratitude towards your parents or parental figures; this could be through a phone call, a letter, or a thoughtful gesture. Recognise and appreciate the positive aspects of your relationship. At the same time, be mindful of your words throughout the day. If you find yourself starting to complain, gently shift your perspective and find a reason to be thankful instead.
Day 6 is about deepening our appreciation for our roots and learning to embrace life’s challenges positively, transforming our complaints into opportunities for gratitude and growth.
I’m encouraged and appreciate everyone in my life, family, my late parents and friends.
Good blesses the things we are grateful for.
